There is a great deal to be proud of at Great Meols Primary School, and a tangible sense of progress and building confidence. The school was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ in all aspects by Ofsted at our most recent full inspection, but we’re not complacent; and if we’re to achieve our full potential we know that there is always more to do.

We are now looking for a Headteacher who can build on success to date and continue the school’s positive trajectory, ensuring we can maintain this judgement at our next inspection. It’s a role that demands a proven track record and hands-on headship experience of a school with a consistent record of high achievement and attainment. You should be able to demonstrate an infectious passion for teaching and learning, plus a wholehearted commitment to raising standards (backed up by the practical know-how to make it happen). The ability to establish positive professional relationships will be at the very heart of this role. It’s essential that you can bring others with you, embedding clear shared expectations of performance, and that you can lead in a culture of high standards, distinguished by strong collaboration and appreciative challenge.

The role requires deep understanding of the curriculum, and the importance of monitoring progress. As Headteacher you’ll be a visible presence within and outside the school, forging relationships with parents and the wider community to promote the school’s achievements and connecting community spirit to positive outcomes for pupils. It’s extremely important that you can bring a confident and supportive leadership style to this role, with professional credibility and personal gravitas. It’s desirable that you are an experienced Headteacher, or are able to present convincing evidence of leading sustained improvement in an acting-up capacity. Whatever your most recent experience, you should be able to articulate a clear picture of what an outstanding school looks like, and the practical steps needed to sustain that position.

Visits for single candidates are welcomed by arrangement, with availability at 3.30 and 4.15 on school days (subject to prevailing COVID restrictions). Visits will be led by either the Trust Chief Executive or the School Improvement Lead.
